Maine 2005

This is just a really quick view of our trip to Maine. There were MANY other things that we did and saw. Between all of us, we took several hundred pictures. But here are twenty quick ones just to give you a taste of what a wonderful time that we had.

After driving for so long we had to use the camera to actually see straight!
Thar she blows! This is our small cottage off of the Atlantic. Home for a week.

Ooo One step backwards and there will be a big splash.
Here is the Back/Front from the edge of the drop off in the back yard… The porch was a nice place to relax.

Sunrise/Sunset, Sunrise/Sunset, swiftly go the days!
The view of the Atlantic was breath taking…

Hey, Bro! Look at that!
Some unpacking and the next day we were off to see the sites…

Yes This flies!
We hit the Owlshead Transportation Museum for the Air and Bike show….

Okay… There's the gunner's seat, where is the rest of the plane?
It is a fully functional museum with some really unique planes. Our timing was wonderful for this trip. I wish our WildWest buddies could have made it for they could have seen some planes and bikes that the very few people get a chance to see in operation.

Where's Snoopy?
That included this Fokker tri-plane which can hover in the air. Here's half of the Maine crew. Tom and Carol are taking the picture.

A nice BMW
I knew Tom would be taking most of the bike pics, but I could not resist this beautiful BMW. That would do just fine for me….

Mom is back away from the cliff covering her eyes.
We got lots of hiking in during the week and had some terrific views. Tom and Carol even got to do some sea kayaking. We hit several towns along the way, includng Rockland, Camden and Bar harbor. The thing about towns in Maine is that they've got a lot going on but they seem so small!

We only hiked along the base of that rock face.
We hit Acadia an did some not technical climbing on this route. (Non-Technical means no climbing equipment is required.)

A pic of a guy catching some pics
We passed a Mountain Preacher along the way….

If there ever was a time to leash your kids….
And some billy goats…

And one child alecarte
The top of Cadillac Mountain was warm and sunny. The views went on for miles. Assuming you didn't stumble and get a close up of the ground below!

A preacher and his lady
If you weren't careful, you soon found you were having a really good time. Once you've seen Maine, you really want to share it with those most important to you. Luckily, we had some of those folk at our side.

Beside thunder hole
Acadia is home for some of the most incredible coastline along the Atlantic.

Some of our crew held back from being splashed or climb the rocks off to the side... but it looks like they enjoyed it none-the-less!
The views brought smiles to everyone's faces.

Tom is a GOOD and patient teacher!
We even had some time to hang around the cabin and have some motorcycle lessons for Master Queeg.

You can love nature as you are eating it right?
Of course we are all nature lovers.

No, I don't have a picture of me being driven into the ground as I was body surfing.
And had some time along the beaches.

Hey - we seem to be down one kid.
When it was time to go, there was some resistance. We had an escapee from the packed and loaded van. I saw him dive out of the car seat and run into the cottage. I tracked him to the living room, and as soon as he saw me, he grabbed the couch arm for dear life.
I had to call in The Mom for reinforcement. He greeted her with some scepticism too. :)

He is actually quite strong!
Physical intervention was required.

At Olana on the way back.
But everyone made up in the end.
